TRAINING
FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT
The Research
Institute is proud of its' long-standing relationship with
law enforcement professionals. Over the years, the Institute
has trained FBI Agents at the FBI Academy, Quantico, Va. and
over 300 police officers from across the State of Michigan.
The Institute
Conducts the following training, based on Procedures Guided
By Criminal Theory and Results from Applied Research:
Footprinting:
Tracking Criminals Online: Uses a system developed at
Michigan State University, School of Criminal Justice, in
the Laboratories of the Identity Theft Partnerships in Prevention
Program.
First
Responders to Identity Theft: A three-hour workshop
designed for law enforcement officers to provide them with:
information
on how victims of ID theft can avoid further abuse,
specific details on where to begin an id theft investigation
and where to obtain the information to begin,
material to develop their own department's Community Awareness
Program,
ideas and recommendations for developing ID theft police
department policy.
Search & Seizures of Computer Equipment: Two-hour
workshop provides details on how to preserve chain of evidence
involving search and seizure of computers and computer-related
materials and equipment.
PC
Security in the Police Department: Three-hour workshop
on practical methods to secure personal computers in the
police department; no expert knowledge of computers required.
Personnel
Selection for Security: Three-hour workshop on selecting
"in" honest employees and selecting "out"
dishonest job applicants; complies with the Guidelines of
Title VII for Fairness in Personnel Selection and the Equal
Employment Opportunity Commission.
