FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT
The Institute's
crime analysts conduct RESEARCH to:
- develop
"behavioral" profiles of criminal activity,
- establish
"criminal" profiles based on previous crimes,
criminal activities, and relationships,
- identify
crime networks by determining relationships among crimes
and criminals,
- forecast
the likelihood of a crime occurring on a given day, time,
and place, using crime data,
- identify
patterns and trends of criminal activities, and
link common factors among crimes, such as weapons used,
physical description, modus operandi.
